SCC Early Childhood Education – Nathaniel Jones Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is named in memory of Nathaniel Jones, March 25, 1981-February 10, 2003.

Nathaniel was born in Anaheim, CA on March 25, 1981 to Alan and Cleta Jones. His sister, Tara, who was born a little over a year earlier, became at once his rival, mentor and best friend for the remainder of his life. Nathaniel was amazed at life and the people around him. He had a genuine and profound love for his family, friends, coworkers, acquaintances, children, and was an advocate for those less fortunate and usually forgotten in our society. He loved children, and his last job allowed him to work with them exclusively in an elementary school recreational program. The people who knew him marveled at his talents, in particular, writing and performing music. Nathaniel was attending Sacramento City College and majored in Early Childhood Education. It is fitting that there be an award in his name to be given to students who are deserving of it.
