Bud Lee
ARC Diane Lee Memorial Scholarship.
Diane Lee attended American River College in the late 1960s before transferring to Sacramento State. She loved her years spent at ARC, especially since she attended with her cousin, Terry. Diane valiantly fought colon cancer for eight years and finally lost her battle on August 26, 2011, at the age of 63. She is survived by her husband, Bud, and her two children, Erica and Ethan. She was loved and is missed by all who knew her. She was a voracious reader and mentioned many times throughout her life, a written legacy left for her children and future generations. Diane understood the struggles of working while going to school. Because she remembered her time at ARC so fondly, she mentioned before she passed away she would like to set up a scholarship fund for students, especially during this difficult economic time. Our family has chosen to award this scholarship to a student pursing a career in creative writing because of Diane’s aspiration to become a published author and because she knew the life of being a paid writer could be difficult. Our family looks forward to helping an aspiring writer pursue their creative aspirations.
