Cyndee Reed Van Hooser
Cyndee is the donor for the Curt Van Hooser Memorial Scholarship which is in memory of her husband, Curt Van Hooser.
As a teenager, Curt Van Hooser liked to tinker with cars, trucks and motorcycles. He would buy old vehicles and fix them. He graduated from a local high school and went on to American River College. Young men were still going to Viet Nam when Curt left ARC and joined the Navy. He retired after 20 years of service to his country.
Motorcycles became a passion for Curt, particularly Harley Davidson. Curt became the founding Director of Sierra Thunder Harley Owners Group when he and his wife Cyndee founded the club in 2019. They rode together on their Harley, more than half-way across America. She shared their adventures in Thunder Roads NorCal Magazine.
Curt retired from his second career at Sutter Health in 2025. He started planning his after-retirement career, ordering the tools and equipment needed to restore classic motorcycles. Unfortunately, his dream was cut short only a few months later when a vehicle entered his right of way. Curt was killed while riding his motorcycle.
Curt will be honored if the recipient uses this scholarship towards a career working on cars, trucks or motorcycles.
