Dr. Gary Lawson
Dr. Gary Lawson is the donor of the Timothy Wayne Lawson Scholarship. The first born child of Dr. Gary Lawson and his wife, Vivian Lawson, Timothy was born with many challenges and passed away at 5 months old. This sent Dr. Lawson down another career path, which was working with children and adults that had both physical and mental disabilities. Dr. Lawson was the first principal of Jessie Baker School, and was the moving force behind many programs for children, students, and adults with disabilities. When he retired as principal of Jessie Baker School, he became President of the Elk Grove Adult Community Training Program (EGACT) Board of Directors. He was closely involved with the expansion of EGACT whose mission is as follows: “To provide for the equality, dignity, and fulfillment of the rights of all program participants through a community-based program providing opportunities for individual choice in community and vocational environments.” To learn more about the Elk Grove Adult Community Training (EGACT), check out the web page at http://www.egact.org.
