Helen DuMont

ARC Guilbert DuMont Philosophy.
Guilbert DuMont was a disciple of Plato and a friend of Epicurus, a deep thinker and late-blooming tango dancer, an intellectual who played the trumpet in dance bands during college. As a popular philosophy professor at American River College, he opened minds with ancient teachings that offered fundamental lessons for modern life. As a caring teacher and friend, he opened the door of his home to students for lively chats that he accompanied on jazz piano. A gentle man who challenged students always to ask questions in the classroom and in life, Mr DuMont died in March 2007 at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento after a bout of flu. He was 95.
