SCC Audio Production – Jack Foley Memorial
This scholarship was created in honor of Jack Foley, by his family. Many workers in post-production sound use the terms foley studio, foley sheets, foley footsteps, foley reels, foley walker, foley editor, without fully realizing the ate term “foley” was the name of a man. Yes, Jack Foley was quite a man and his many contributions to the art of sound effects are a story in itself.
Jack Foley started his career in the motion picture business during the silent picture era and lived through the exciting times when overnight, the industry converted to sound. Jack was truly adaptable in a period of change, a jack-of-all-trades and master of them all. Stuntman, Writer, Director, Jack Foley enjoyed forty years on the Universal Studio lot, loving his work and his many friends there. On October 29, 1999, Universal honored his association and contribution to the studio by name a stage the “Jack Foley Stage”.
The Foley family, wishes you a brilliant and exciting career. They hope you live, and love life as much as Jack did!
