Lawrence Moore
The Moore Family Scholarships honor Fredrick A Moore, 1918-2013, and Marguerite R Moore, 1922-2017. Fred is a WWII veteran and was active in the Knight of Columbus and the Boy Scouts of America serving as Grand Knight and Scoutmaster of these organizations. Marguerite was active in their church, and spent many hours behind her sewing machine, sewing clothes for their three sons and two daughters. Married for 71 years before Fred’s passing, both Fred and Marguerite supported education and were passionate about lifelong learning, never failing to challenge themselves, their children or the youth with whom they worked.
This scholarship was established by Lawrence Moore, who has been a direct beneficiary of his parents’ legacy. Larry wishes to further pass this legacy onto other students who are wanting to learn, and who may have had challenges in their life. Larry and his wife Holly adopted and raised (along with two biological children) a mixed-race child and are aware of the challenges adopted or foster children may have.
