ARC Alyce Mae Fiedler Beacon Tutor
Alyce Mae Fiedler, June 26, 1935-April 30, 2010. Alyce was born in Chicago and attended catholic schools there through college. She graduated with a BA in biology from Mundelein College which is associated with Loyola University of Chicago. After teaching for two years in Chicago public schools, Alyce moved to Oregon to pursue and complete an MA in biology at Oregon State University. An offer to teach at Mira Loma High School brought Alyce to Sacramento; she later taught at Casa Robles where she became Department Head. The majority of her career, however, was spent team-teaching biology at ARC. She was a very popular teacher and was well known on campus to students and staff alike. In 1981 she was selected Outstanding Instructor of the year at ARC. Alyce was also very active in faculty committees; in addition, she was one of the Directors of the Center for Teaching and Learning.
