PEO Scholarship in nursing or education
ARC PEO Scholarship for Women in Nursing or Education. P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organizational) was founded in 1869 by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Originally a small campus friendship group, P.E.O. has grown to almost a quarter of a million women of all ages in chapters in the United States and Canada. The mission of P.E.O. is to provide educational opportunities for women. P.E.O. members support six philanthropies that include ownership of two-year women’s college —Cottey College in MO, and five programs that provide higher educational assistance: P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund, P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund., P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, P.E.O. Scholar Awards and P.E.O. STAR Scholarship. Chapter LY of P.E.O. in Sacramento also sponsors this local scholarship for women majoring in nursing or education at American River College.
