George and Jane Wooden were coaches, teachers and athletes. As athletes, George played football at Oklahoma State University and was the leading receiver in the nation in the early 50’s. Jane was a diver and dancer and studying to be a doctor. Both graduated from OSU..the Cowboys…not the Sooners! and chose then the field of teaching and coaching while starting a family; Tara, Dirk and Tami. The goal of this award is to honor my family and reward a student-athlete for commitment to hard work, respect for others and the discipline to reach goals. Hopefully this Scholarship can help with books and groceries. Anything worthwhile takes hard work…I know you can do it!
