The Family of Sarah Elizabeth Williams Hansel

The family of Sarah Elizabeth Williams Hansel, an award-winning graphic designer and Sacramento native who passed away in 2020 at the age of 31, are proud to sponsor this scholarship program.

Sarah was born and raised in Sacramento and attended C.K. McClatchy High School. After earning her bachelor’s degree in English and Women’s Studies from UC Davis, Sarah chose to continue her education through the Los Rios Community College District, taking courses in graphic design and illustration. Her experience at Los Rios helped give her the skills and confidence to launch her career as a graphic designer. Utilizing her skills and education, she worked her way up to Art Director at the Sacramento News & Review while also freelancing. Her creative style was vibrant and whimsical, just like she was.
