Los Rios Student Emergency Fund

The Student Emergency Fund will begin accepting applications for Spring Semester on January 13, 2024. The application opens on the first day of instruction for the semester and closes the last day of instruction before finals.

The Student Emergency Fund provides grants of up to $1,000 to Los Rios students who are involved in sudden and unexpected emergencies that threaten their ability to continue their education. Awards for eligible students will be paid through BankMobile. You must apply for the FAFSA or Dream Act Application before applying, unless you are an undocumented or international student who is unable to do so. It is highly recommended that you set up a BankMobile account. If you do not have one, your award will be sent via check, but will take several weeks longer to arrive.

To be eligible, students must:

1. Demonstrate exceptional need resulting from a sudden, unexpected emergency event
2. Be currently enrolled in at least six units at a Los Rios college
3. Qualify as low-income by meeting the requirements to receive a California College Promise Grant (CCPG) or be projected to receive a California College Promise Grant for the upcoming term.
4. Earn at least a 2.0 grade point average at Los Rios or prior institution in one of the previous three-semester terms (or four-quarter terms) OR be a student who is receiving additional support or services through a community college’s Disabled Student Programs and Services.
5. Complete a FAFSA or CADA if eligible to do so OR be a student without a SSN who is unable to receive financial aid.
6. Be a resident of California
7. Have at least $1,000 of Unmet Need
