Los Rios Student Emergency Fund

The Student Emergency Fund will begin accepting applications for Spring Semester on January 18, 2025. The application opens on the first day of instruction for the semester and closes the last day of instruction before finals.

The Student Emergency Fund provides grants of up to $500 to Los Rios students involved in sudden and unexpected emergencies that threaten their ability to continue their education. Awards for eligible students will be paid through BankMobile. You must apply for the FAFSA or Dream Act Application before applying, unless you are an undocumented or international student who is unable to do so. It is highly recommended that you set up a BankMobile account. If you do not have one, your award will be sent via check, but will take several weeks longer to arrive.

To be eligible, students must:

• Have a temporary financial hardship resulting from a sudden emergency, accident or event and must be able to provide sufficient documentation of financial hardship.
• Be in “Good Standing” and must have a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher. Must not be on academic or progress probation of any kind.
• Be currently enrolled in at least 6 units at a Los Rios college AND have completed at least one semester with a minimum of 6 units.
• Qualify as low-income by meeting the requirements to receive a California College Promise Grant (CCPG).
• Complete a FAFSA or CADA if eligible to do so OR be a student without a SSN who is unable to receive financial aid.
• Be a resident of California
• Have no more than 60 units without an explanation for the excess of units.
• Have identified and made progress toward an academic goal.
• Other possible resources (such as insurance, financial aid or funding from other service organizations) must have been considered and have been found to be unavailable or insufficient. Must show evidence or address in questions, if applicable.
A plan should be included in application that demonstrates that the student will be able to move successfully forward following an award.

A maximum of one grant, will be allowed to any one student during all combined enrollments at Los Rios. There are many forms of help for students experiencing need.
