This scholarship is in honor of Joyce Van Tuyl, who graduated from the University of Michigan in 1945 with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. She was one of only two women amongst the 115 Engineering Department graduates that year. Throughout her life she advocated against gender and other biases in the areas of education and employment.
